Meanwhile, out on the Big Island...

Fissure 8 is quiet, nothing happening at the vent, but wow, look at the steaming crack leading away to the upper right of the picture.  That means that although the eruption is over for now, just underground there is seething, bubbling lava stretching away to the horizon.


The large black sand beach remains blocking the boat ramp at Pohoiki, and I am still and continually amazed at how close the lava flow came to destroying the little park, but missing it.
