Spent the day visiting friends up at New Spicer Meadows reservoir yesterday

Temperature in the 70's - woo!

BBQ'ed some big pork chops from Louie the Pig on a beautiful big grill they have up there.

8 little kids running around being funny and cute.

Bonus: we got to run a chain saw and build a big camp fire.

Me, doing the exact same thing, in the same mountains, way on back in the mid 60's.    I was one of the kids then.

  2. hey-anytime you want to run a chainsaw, stop by...have a husqi, polen, and a Stihl, with five cords to cut before winter...ftr-my tree guy came up to top a couple shading the greenhouse; while down cutting [50 yrds away] his Malumute was attacked by a mountain lion...we saved his ass, but it was a close one...less than 5 yrds from the house...

  3. That's a real neat place to visit and camp. The road used to be very poor for a 2wd vehicle. If you're feeling froggy there's a trail on the back side up to the Pacific Crest trail and the old abandoned Cherry Creek mine. The mine was a cool place with calendars still tacked on the wall from the 1940's. It really opens up the back side of the Emigrant Wilderness Area otherwise known as slickrock country.
