26 bucks for a cast iron vise and FREE SHIPPING? I look forward to the delivery person lugging it up my front steps. Just hope they don't "loft" deliver the last 3 feet or so.
Agreed. For precise work on a milling machine, I was exposed to top-of-the-line Kurt vises that were absolutely a work of art, what with the interchangeable jaws and such. But at this price point for a hammer-beater get the nut off the shaft NOW bench vice, I'm willing to make compromises.
Agreed.

ReplyDeleteNice to have an anvil as well, even though I have one like that and the metal pad will usually suffice.
ReplyDeleteEver price an anvil? Insanely expensive. I'm still hoping to find one at a yard sale by someone who doesn't realize it's value.

ReplyDeleteBut it seems you do have to add a zero to the price for a made in USA vise.
DeleteBest bet is to hit the garage / estate sales and find a good used.
