Hearing or eye protection was unheard of when I qualified with the M1 & 1911 back in 1961. I'm regretting it now since I'm about 60% deaf in both ears and suffer from severe tinnitus.
I hear that ( yuk yuk ). I have the same tinnitus from unprotected shooting in my teens, plus running a lawn mowing business and listening to a roaring, smoke belching mower for hours at a time. I'm lucky I can hear at all, I suppose.
Got to love the 2 handed tea cup grip
ReplyDeleteGotta love it all. Makes me want to get my hands on an old WWII 1911 and test myself on shooting it and field stripping it.
DeleteFascinating!
ReplyDeleteSeems they are using tracer - presumably just for the cameras. And somewhat blase about hearing protection back then.

Yeah, Trigger and muzzle discipline was lacking as well. But hey, it was the times...
