And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
@1911A1. Interesting. From my time in the Navy (89-99) I remember calling this "flaked" (not sure of the spelling) as in go flake down that line. I dunno. According to Animated knots dot com, This is called the "Flemsih Flake". I guess flaking is the act of coiling the line one way (figure 8, or coil, or?) or another, and Flemish is the type of flaking method. Thanks C.W. for the opportunity to learn something.
These yacht dwellers have way too much time on their hands.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is coiled, the proper term is to Flemish, or Flemished.
