And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Each ship a company-sized force. Ten ships. These are short-range ships, there's a mother-ship somewhere. Why would anybody cross the impossible vast emptiness, and then bring in infantry? That's a lot of mouths to feed. What's Earth got that a thousand other uninhabited worlds don't already have? "Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us."
