I did something similar up in Hat Creek. Lots of lightning strikes in 1000 Lakes Wilderness, up on the Rim and down around Old Station. During that we got hit with a torrential downpour and wind. That ended my sitting outside. Still, it was fun to watch.

ReplyDeleteI'm envious having loved the storms that saw frequently in the two late summer months I spent in the States in 1981. At home they are a novelty because they are quite rare.
Thunderstorms aren't that common in Redding, not like they are out in the Midwest, but the two or three times a year they roll through are fun. I will say this, I never saw golf ball sized hail until I moved here. I still have some dents in the hood of the Mighty Dodge from those ice bombs.
DeleteGrew up in SoCal and was rarely moved by weather but would visit my grandparents in Tulsa and got an inkling of how nature could beautifully entertain in a special way...and be frightening at times.
DeleteI'm envious! We're down to -28C in Ottawa tonight....might need the heat! Steve_in_Ottawa
