And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My father-in-law bought me a vise that size for a birthday present back about 50 years ago. One of the most useful gifts that I ever received. Still using it to this day.
I have the 4 1/2" width model. It's probably 31 years old and still in use on my garage workbench. It doesn't look new, but it works just as good as it did on day #1.
I found a vise that size that had been well-used for many years and still worked great. It was at a garage sale for $30. It's now mounted on the workbench in my garage. I also found an ancient, tiny clamp-on vise that I picked up for $5. It's in my office on my 3D printer workbench. I love going to garage and estate sales to pick up old, but still useful, tools. I have a variety of hand drills that I've found are perfect for drilling 3D-printed parts because I can go as slowly and carefully as I need to.

ReplyDeleteSame here, and I still have and use it all the time, but it was only 35 years ago when he gave it to me.
DeleteA workbench without a vise is no different than a ladies make-up dresser.
