And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
About these types of airplanes (often called, "bushplanes"): Is all the fuel for these located in the wings (and only in the wings)? [I've asked this question before].
That plane is a modified Polish PZL-104 Wilga, and Wikipedia tells me that the factory model can carry fuel in a pair of 52 US gallon wing tanks. As I understand it, turbine engines enjoy their best fuel economy at high altitudes, but they can give you enormous power at lower altitudes - where most bush planes will operate - IF you can stand the fuel burn.
Patey is one of those guys you would swear only needs 15 minutes of sleep every two weeks. Guy is one of those minds looking for a place to create something it seems. Where his money comes from I don’t know but he has to go through a lot of it. Saw a video recently and it looks like he’s building some manner of air park community and at the same time a new Grumman albatross project taxied up. He’s either in debt to his eyeballs or rich beyond imagination but either way a load of fun to watch.

Usually, yes, fuel is in the wings. That minimizes change in center of gravity/mass as it burns off.

DeleteGod bless the Bush pilots.
ReplyDeleteMike Patey's Draco. He designed and built it. He crashed it while leaving Reno/Stead airfield after the STOL races a few years ago.
