And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Cab of the “A1” 60163 Tornado Steam Locomotive with an Electronic Display Screen
How I hate that name even though I love the loco. There were plenty of wonderful names on the original A1s so they spent a fortune building a replica and called it 4king Tornado . . .
Left hand running like the cars. 3 cylinder engine and vacuum not air brakes. Named Tornado after the British Air Force jet. Around 2500 hp and can hit 100mph.
The digital screen is likely Advanced Warning System (AWS) or other on-train automatic train control systems like those used in the ETCS (European Train Control System), their version of PTC (Positive Train Control). Union Pacific's Big Boy steam locomotive has a digital PTC screen in the cab.
The Hitachi screen is a nostalgic touch

ReplyDelete"Named Tornado after the British Air Force jet" I suspected that kind of lack of imagination but it does mean we're justified in calling it "Tonka"
