And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Some impressive piers and piling holding up those buildings. Wonder how long they are good for. Probably have to move the building back onto the front road in order to drive in replacements.
The photo is from Bakklandet, a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim, Norway. The row of buildings are old (restored) trading houses, pack houses along the river "Nidelva". Those to the right, that is, the buildings to the left in the photo, a bit away from the river, are modern constructions.
Trondheim was once the capital of the first Christian Norwegian kings (post Viking era), the city was then known by the medieval name Nidaros. The name Nidaros refers to the estuary / mouth of the river Nidar (today Nidelva).
Spent the better part of a day there late last winter. If I was young again and looking for a wife I'd figure out a way to go live there until I found one. Tons of beautiful blonde, athletic lovelies running all over the place. The ones not running were pushing babies in strollers.
