And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'll take the Avante, everytime. A friend had a 70's Jensen Healey back in '77. That was the first time I saw motor with the distributor UNDER the intake manifold. LOOK! You can SEE it, down there in the bowels! I was dumbstruck! It was a real WTF moment of "Really?!?" then...oh yeah, if you have money to burn, you get what you want. Or you're a good, eager and willing. mech. I'm fine with old Detroit iron. Sometime in the 80's, the EPA PHUQUED the auto industry and us. The 70's weren't great either. Nowadays you buy a 60-90 thousand dollar truck, or car, that will code, stop and leave you on the side of the road to wait of a flatbed tow. Now you have to go to the dealer to get your code reset, get a sensor changed, or not and get bent over financially, so you can drive away. No thanks, I like older vehicles that don't spy on me. My ancient, ugly, '86 Toyota pick up, (before there were Tacomas or other named Toyota pick ups) is bet-yer-ass reliable.
Both are cool cars. The Jensen Interceptor has a Chrysler engine and transmission so parts are easier to find.

No time like the present.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth?
DeleteMy neighbor in the early ‘60’s had both an Avanti in bronze and a Nash Metropolitan. I thought they were space age vehicles.
DeleteWhile you're dreaming of the Jensen, get yourself a Miata.
ReplyDeleteYou really should visit the Studebaker museum in South Bend Indiana. One of the best and most interesting I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThe Avanti, and or the Volvo P1800 in fire-engine red.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a Bristol 411?

ReplyDeleteme too, they had class
DeleteMy shop teacher in HS (class of '73) drove an Avanti. The music teacher drove a Citroen. First time I saw either of those cars.
