And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Got CA plates on it. If it's anywhere in AZ, it would probably be in one of the "tonier" Phoenix areas. To Rob Muir: what's that big green thing in the far right side of the picture? :-) Yeah, that's a Saguaro ...
Ok, this photo is part of a series done by photographer Tom Blachford. Shown here is one of the famous Alexander mid-century tract homes in Palm Springs.
As for PS have inclines, you better believe it. Especially to the NW - SW, but not exclusive to those areas One of the tallest mountains (10,834') in SoCal is within a few short miles.
Tract houses typify cookie cutter construction as paid out by Levitt & Sons at Levittown on Long Island.
I think the reason that tract houses in Palm Springs can have such unique identity is because already by the mid-century, celebrities had been flocking to Palm Springs. With money and prestige, they were able to influence the design of their tract homes. Not a lot of builders in that area at that time. And who could handle the volume, as well as the pernicious picadillos of the Hollywood set.
My parents had several time shares. This is how the family spent several vacations in Palm Springs. While there are a lot of fags and poseurs there, there also are some extraordinarily gifted actors and stage hands.
There is a large theater in town. It hosts plays. I remember being dragged off of one of the many golf courses to go view a play. Hollywood actors don't fade away, they retire to Palm Springs. This play featured many actors of yesteryear. All knew their lines and it went off without a hitch. It was fascinating to watch actors who were stars when my parents were kids and now still had 'it'.
I am inclined to say Palm Springs.
ReplyDeleteKinda what I thought. Possibly AZ, but without saguaro, it’s impossible to be certain.
DeleteI dunno; does Palm Springs have any inclines?
DeleteSaguaro is on the right. Looks like Scottsdale
DeleteAlfa Romeo Spider?

That's my opinion.
