And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I happen on a 68 911s thanks to a officer who thought he could drive. problem was he was to rotate back to the states in 2 months and didn't have the cash to fix it. so, I got it cheap. rebuilt the engine, replaced the clutch and had a great ride. until I got married. she sold said ride while I was deployed and bought a VW camper van. in baby shit green no less plaid seats even. I hated that thing.
I had a 89 944 Turbo. It was a high performance cars that needed more attention than I could afford to pay. My 74 Stingray is easier to get in and out of, it is quicker, and handles about the same. The big difference is the Chevy is more durable as things do not break as much. A brake job on the Vette is less than half the cost in parts. An oil change is less than $30 and the 944 was about $50 just for the serviceable items.
I once passed on a cherry '68 912 for $1200 because it was too much $$... in 1973.

This wasn't on Jekyll Island, Georgia, by any chance? I passed on a similar deal there around the same time.
DeleteFor some reason I've been thing about that old Janis Joplin song lately. This guy must be one of her friends.

ReplyDeleteBuying the Porsche is the easy half of the equation. Maintaining it is the tougher more expensive half.
ReplyDeleteI'll pick on up at Mike's estate sale, if he hasn't wrecked it.
