And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Also the various regs that dictate such things as headlight and bumper height. There's also a Euro requirement for 100mm between the hood and the engine to lower pedestrian fatalities. Al_in_Ottawa
What happens when designed in Wind Tunnels. Notice these are all 'Station Wagons'. Call it what you like but if there is cargo space behind the rear seats and no trunk lid it is a Wagon.
I believe that the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that was just signed removed all penalties against auto makers for failure to comply with the CAFE standards. Let’s hope that we get to see some properly designed cars again.
It happens. AND...sometimes in related critters, the keyfob will open and start a different make and model from your own. I'm a tow operator. I've seen it happen a time or three.
Stupid bureaucrats did this to us. Really BAD public policy: short sighted, blind to unintended consequences! Can’t see through them or around them! I used to like driving. Then came these “seriously ugly vehicles”, categorized as trucks to get out from under the mileage requirements!
I've been pointing this out to my (beautiful) wife for the last several years. just give me an old pickup with manual locks, windows and transmission. a truck (or car) you can still work on yourself. sell 'em cheap - they'll literally FLY off the shelves, so to speak. this stuff? no imagination. too many regs.
This illustration says it all. What a sad state of affairs in our auto industry. Steve_in_Ottawa
ReplyDeleteNo way this is worse than the late 70s through almost all of the 80s…
DeleteIt is worse, all the cars in most parking lots I see these days have about the same outlines.
Deleteand they are all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same. Indyjones
DeleteThat and a total lack of imagination.

This is what happens when people are too slow to actually and summarily tar and feather vexatious politicians.
ReplyDeleteTry doing it that way first, then get back to us when your problem set is suddenly nil.
Nice list. Where's the Subarus?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a decent (non-recalled) 8 cyl pickup, no turbo, no 10 speed tranny
ReplyDeleteall the fenders, doors, etc are almost interchangeable....brand doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteAnd no CVT, hybrid, or 3 cylinder engines with my money.
