And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? French Foreign Legion Camel Corps. Watch out, they spit.
A co-worker friend of mine tried. He was visited by the FBI who informed him he would have to renounce his American citizenship if he did. Needless to say, he backed off. Sounds like a sea story but could be true.
The US Army once had a troop of camels, located at Fort Tejon in the Grapevine Canyon north of Los Angeles at the entrance to the Central Valley. It had been created through the leadership of Sec. of the Army Jefferson Davis prior to the Civil War. Great for a forced match to Needles! Interesting experiment but not pursued.
Not to mention the camels do, too.
ReplyDeleteCamel's are not the only animals that spit on you.
ReplyDeleteYou don't join the FFL because they have cool uniforms
ReplyDelete...nor cause the FAMAS is a bad-ass looking rifle.
ReplyDeleteOnly once.
ReplyDeleteWhile growing up, I never - ever fanaticized joining the French Foreign Legion.

ReplyDeleteWe have a camel at our local zoo who is very friendly. If you stand at the fence he'll stroll over and nuzzle your hand.
