And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Put one in a small plastic container, cover it with vinegar, come back in 3 days and the steel will be gone and the vinegar will be black. Strain the vinegar and use it to "ebonize" wood. Keep adding coats to get the desired patina. You're welcome.
As kids, they made great low rent fireworks. You take a coat hanger, straighten that baby out, one end wraps around a ball of steel wool, other end bend a crank handle so the whole contraption spins in your hand. Now light a corner of the wool, start spinning! Creates an awesome ring of fire for half a minute as the steel wool is force fed air a it rotates around. If yo got a helper, attach a length of rope to the handle, your circle is larger, improved speed makes that wool burn super bright, up into yellow heat. Totally legal too.
They were standard equipment in my mother's kitchen
ReplyDeleteYep, over here in 1960s England too. Oven cleaning and the occasional horrible mess I made.
