And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Took a flight in one some years ago in New Zealand. My dad had been in the NZ air force during the war and served in the Pacific - he was an engine mechanic firstly but a jack of all trades really. He saw lots of Catalinas in the islands but never worked on them or got to fly in one so I treated him. We did a water landing on Lake Taupo which was cool. He didn't like how the engines sounded on take off so still had an ear for such things even though he was in his late 70's. Great guy, been dead a few years now but I still miss him.
Red is the right color for that.
ReplyDeleteCatalina!
ReplyDeleteTurboprop power would liven it up, and increase the payload.

ReplyDeleteCommemorative Air Force is restoring one at the Richard I Bong airport in Superior Wi right now
ReplyDeleteLovely old aircraft. Ok so long as the nose gear door mechanism is properly maintained otherwise it'll take you to a watery grave.
