    1. Right! The wood had to be brought in by boat, I suspect.

  2. I see the antenna, but where's the satellite dish?

  3. No trees on Svalbard. Too far north. Every peace of wood there is driftwood from the great rivers in Siberia. The same way eskimoes got wood for canoes and wood tools.

  4. I can't see where the cabin ends and the woodpile begins. I wonder what Ol' Remus would have made of it.

  5. Are those uprights braces to reinforce the roof against snowload?

  6. This is "Bamsebu Hut," a trapper's-hut sometimes research station stop. Citizen Scientist and Hearts-in-the-Ice have included it in their expeditions.

Thoughts are it was build for whalers, and best I can tell it is around Recherchefjorden.

A video that shows the hut and where the firewood comes from is at: https://vimeo.com/315700999
