  3. In today's construction world, those guys would be harnessed on a safety line, wearing hard hats, steel-toed boots, and such. Interesting to watch.

  4. Worked with some Ironworkers back in the day. Seen them out on a 6" beam sweeping
    off the snow at 7 stories up. Not this little duck, ever!

  5. I imagine this was a time when there were fewer social programs in the U.S. and if you didn't work you didn't eat. These men likely lived through the depression. Any open job was a job for them.

  7. My dad helped build the John Hancock building in Chicago back in the 60s. He had some crazy stories.

  8. Finished in 1930 so yes hard times had begun. Tallest building for 11 months. I wonder if they had jobs after this.
