Ancient of Ages

  1. High on the Whites, east of the Sierra Nevada. Beautiful, stark country. I heard tell that's not the only place for Bristlecone.

  2. Just so y'all know, shown is a living tree. It might be 4,000 years old. That country is deep in the rain shadow of the mighty Sierra, plus its at elevation, round about 6,000' the lowest, cold and windswept so indeed these trees are slow growing. But oh boy, the tenaacity. The tree shown here I bet is no more than a man's height.
