  1. Pretty sure my cousin doesn't regard his time on the Kitty Hawk during Nam the "good old days".

  2. The good ol' Phantom, which proved you can make a brick fly if you attach enough power to it.

  5. That was my bird in '72-'74. It had to be the most inefficient pig in the sky but it could haul ass if you needed it to and could carry more ordnance load than a WW ll B 17. Unfortunately the AIM 7 and AIM 9 missiles were absolute junk and almost never found their targets. I was a Weapon Control Systems tech.

  6. From February 1985 to July 1987 I was on shore duty with VT-86 at NAS Pensacola. Our CO when I left was a Marine LtCol. He had a wire-frame mockup about 2 feet long of an F-4 on his desk, and a plaque that read, "Yeah, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I shall fear no evil, for a clean F-4 is a fast son of a bitch."
