Autogyro. Over Detroit. Ca 1930

  1. Autogyros, although an aviation dead end, are still pretty cool. I bet The Daily Planet, in Metropolis, had a red and blue one!

  2. Pitcairn PCA-2 Autogiro, which can be seen at the Ford Museum - https://www.skytamer.com/Pitcairn_PCA-2.html

Likewise you can still listen to WWJ (the radio station shown on the the autogiro) at AM 950 kHz in Detroit

  3. Those wings proved to be a bad engineering decision. They took weight off the rotors, and if the rotors get to slow you don't get that RPM back

Gyrocopters have a problem called buntover. It is 100 % fatal. If you get into gyros get into late 20th century very tall gyros. I should not take a Bensen as a gift.
