Interesting that there are a couple of counties in Mississippi that have a measurable Icelandic population

  1. WOW, a little smidge of Iceland near me in Western North Carolina. Funny I can't recall meeting anyone with an Icelandic accent in all the years I've been here.

  2. Gimli, Manitoba was established in 1875 by Icelandic settlers. The word Gimli means "heavenly abode” or "home of the Gods” in Icelandic. The community remains the largest population of Icelandic people outside Iceland.

  3. The ones in Mississippi are probably at University of Mississippi in Oxford.
