  1. Everything about a radial is art. The cowl itself is a fabrication challenge (even without cowl flaps) and a thing to behold.

I have much footage taken when a friend rebuilt a 1937 Fairchild F-24 from the ground up. I was constantly awed by his superior workmanship but also the innate beauty of the aircraft.

  2. The people who came up with the design and implemented it into an engine that supported flight are complete geniuses.

    1. There were times when trying to do something routine on a radial engine mounted on an air frame that the things were said about the engineers who designed it were a long ways from the word "genius"!

  3. sea fury. best aircraft from Hawker ever. made the best by the reliable and powerful
bristol centaurus power plant. I had the pleasure of wrenching on a centaurus back in the nineteen seventies. the cowling and fire shields came off and gave easy access to everything a guy needed to get access too. the rotol propellor was a work of art. well engineered and exceptionally well built. designed to be maintained. nice kit.
