And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Barred owl caught on trailcam snatching adult cat.
I think our cat got swooped by an owl in Florida one night, the cat made a really different sound, nothing near normal. We rushed out and found the cat under the middle of the RV looking out to the other side. We got him back in & he never went out after dark again while we were there. He had a single scrape that we could find. I know of two other lives of his 10 that have been used up...
I suspect that is the first, and last, adult size housecat that that owl tangles with. Cats are much too flexible to safely grab. I'm sure a shredding promptly ensued.
The Barred Owl is the east coast equivalent of the Spotted Owl. If one feather of that owl was harmed by the cat and the greenies find out......great wailing and gnashing of teeth!
That owl didn't carry that 7lb cat far & when they hit the ground the owl found out it made a mistake. Now a Great Horned owl would be a different story.
Several years ago an ancient eagle tree in our city was blown over in a heavy storm. Among the remains they found collars, tags, etc from a great number of "disappeared pets". Kitty or that small pup did not necessarily run away from home! The eagle tree had been a nesting tree for 80 years or so.
Fluffy is not at the top of the food pyramid.
ReplyDeletehe won't fight back. Barred owls drop their prey into the crook of a tree where they're stuck, then dispatch them

ReplyDeleteMy 16# Barn Kat would be coming home with feathers in his mouth and a smile-smirk...
