Wow! That is a danger to anyone on board, and no wonder the thing fell off into the ocean

  1. Cover the deck with non-flammable non-skid, add a lot of clover leafs which are standard for griping down aircraft on flight decks on navy ships and use a lot of tie-down gripes which have to be applied just as fast as possible after engine shutdown. This might require the crew to wear insulation against heat but that's how helos and airplanes are fastened down on frigates, tuna boats and even bigger ships.

    1. cause they're rocket scientists. typically, rocket scientists don't have to think things thru or plan ahead. they let dumb shit happen then they go pick up the pieces to see what happend, change a few things and do it again rinse and repeat as many times a necessary/possible. I'm surprised they didn't pave the drone ship's deck with two sided packing tape.
