This Consolidated B-24D Liberator, nicknamed “Ripper the 1st”, nosed over while landing after returning from a raid on Rome, Italy. The B-24 belonged to 515th Bombardment Squadron, 376th Bombardment Group of Ninth Air Force.

  1. That tow is leaving a mark on the tarmac. Ya think they would have a jury-rigged wheeled sled to at least minimize any more damage to the nose of the Liberator.

  2. One of the last B-24D models is at the USAF museum("Strawberry Bitch"). There is a B-24J that fly's around America selling joy rides. I have been up close to both and noted that the nose gear in the "J" was completely different from the "D".---Ray
