Mount Shasta this morning bent a nice lenticular cloud over the summit.

  2. Mt Shasta is one of the best places in the world to see Lenticular clouds. That being said, "In the old days, trailblazers called lenticular clouds "The Witch's Cap" because they forecast rough weather ahead. Pilots and mountaineers also know lenticular clouds only form when there are hazardous winds at altitude, and it's no time to be anywhere close to them, flying or climbing."

  3. Mt. Pinatubo often had nice lenticular clouds over its main peak. Don't know how much of that peak is left. I'm glad I l
    PCS'd a few months before it blew its top. If you were single, the USAF sent you back after it was all over to salvage what could be salvaged, and that was miserable duty.
