Paua scales look darn good, especially compared to the old broken ones that were on it before.
Over at Badger and Blade, a member was prompted (by me) to give a bit of history on Klas Törnblom and his razor company.
In 1900 Törnblom and Hedengren started the Hedengren company making hardware such as knives and tools in Eskilstuna. You can see their workerforce in the photograph below. Hedengren and Törnblom got into financial trouble due to the the trade blockade during the first world war so Törnblom decided to try his luck and started his own business in 1916 focusing on making straight razors. Over the years the coompany also made a few pocket knives and some cutlery, but mostly it was straight razors and mainly of the shoulderless type that you've got. These razors always have had a very fine reputation for being first class shavers. The Törnblom company also exported razors to the USA. Even so the production never was large and the razors often go for high prices when sold in Sweden. They are actually cheaper to buy from American Sellers at eBay. The Törnblom company continued to maker razors until it closed down in 1959. Klas Törnblom himself died in much earlier in 1920 at the age of 62.
Thanks Arne!
Klas and the fam. Solid upper middle class.
Törnblom and Hedengren company, taken sometime before 1916. Klas is the guy on the right front with a cane.
Just for contrast, this is the Törnblom as I found it - a bit worse for wear.
Now, I've got to hone it up to shaving shape, which I'll do next weekend when I'm back at the other place, where I'm keeping the Arkansas stones for now.
