Darwin Award: Tourist decides to get a selfie of himself hanging off the ledge at Nevada Falls in Yosemite. The inevitable happens.

Frankfurter, who was touring the U.S. before starting his compulsory military service, accompanied a group of young tourists up Yosemite's classic Mist Trail, which takes hikers 3.5 miles past Vernal and Nevada falls. The group had lunch above Nevada Fall and was preparing to head back when Frankfurter decided to take a selfie to mark the occasion.
— He took off his backpack and gave his phone to a woman in the group. Then, despite the warnings of others, he began climbing over the cliff. Soon, he was dangling off the edge.
— The designated camera woman begin snapping photos. Frankfurter seemed in control, but then he suddenly said, "I need help."
— As tourists screamed for help, three hikers ran to his aid. They lay on the rock and grabbed his arms and wrists, but couldn't pull him back over the ledge. By now Frankfurter was tiring, and his arms were coated with sweat. He slipped out of their grasp and fell nearly 600 feet onto the rocks below.

Moral: Do not tempt the Lord thy God with foolishness like this, or He may call you home early.
