Hurricane Ready

  1. you should have a bunch more than this. clean drinking water for at least two weeks. If you won't drink it, why would you want to wash your hands in it or cook with it? the experience of hurricane andrew in south florida was a game changer. the time to gather supplies is before the storm not after.people who are new to the region need to be counseled by their neighbors, lest they drag your own level of self rescue/survival down the tubes. if you have supplies and power of some kind, your neighbors will gravitate towards you. be prepared to help them after you help yourself.
I no longer live in the south, i am in the rockies. I prep for wind, blizzards and human hazards, so my prep kit is a bit different. Prayer is alway a good thing, and as my chaplin often told me, God helps those who help themselves.

  2. its just an observation from me, but, these little survival kits are better than a pocket knife and handkerchief. stay at home kits should have some serious trauma care items. the day we did away with the Civil Defense Program was a sad loss to the public good. there was equipment, supplies and training available to almost anyone who wished to be in the program. a sad loss.
anyway, good luck to all of those in the path...
