10,000 year old Skull and Antlers of an extinct Elk found by fishermen in Ireland

Oh, aye!

McElroy made the discovery on Wednesday September 5 while fishing in Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland. The commercial fisherman, a native of Ardboe in Co Tyrone, was between Salterstown Castle and Ballyronan when the giant skull wound up in his net.
Awaiting a new home, the skull of the Giant Irish Elk is currently being housed in McElroy’s garage.
Below is a size comparison with modern humans.

  1. It looks to be part elk and part moose - a moolk?

  2. I've visited the area around Lough Neagh several times. Never saw an elk, deer or the like. it's the biggest body of water on the Island of Ireland.
