And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Just in case the stator repair at Collierville Powerhouse doesn't go as planned, or if there is a sudden Carrington Event
We have a 8kw and only used it for the reefer and a few lamps when some drunk took a pole down. I run it once a month for an hour just to keep the battery up.
First, don't leave it in the driveway. It'll disappear quick that way.
Second, be darn sure to flush all the old gas out before storage. Lots of generators work fine for the first hurricane and are completely crapped out for the second.
I have a 750 gallon propane tank buried in the back yard. Basically I fill it once per year for the water heaters, gas range, gas log fireplace (don't ask), and BBQ. I also have a plug-in gas line built in at the BBQ for the crawfish/lobster/fryer gas ring. So I reckon the best thing to do is get a dual-fuel setup so I can plug-er in and be good for at least a week or so. Need enough to run the freezer/fridge and one A/C. Anybody out there have experience they can share? I'm thinking I need 12 kW
In a carrington event, unless the unit is shielded by a Faraday cage or equivalent, the electronic ignition will most likely be toast. Long live points ignition!
Always good to have.
ReplyDeleteLooks good. I bought a similar one in 2002 and have yet to actually use it even though there have been a few hurricanes.

ReplyDeleteSay, what ever happened to that Orvil Dam or that dam that was going to bust last year......sorry, wwwaaaayyyyy to much caffeine tonight.

They've got the spillway working enough to avoid overtopping the dam, so the danger, for now, has passed. But, Winter is coming.....

I've used Sta-Bil 2 and 4 year and had to flush it this year for the first time.
