Thompson Contender with a Bullberry 25-20 barrel, Marblewood stock set.
Haven't shot it yet, but maybe next weekend.
And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I had a Contender many years ago, good pistol.
ReplyDeleteI have an old one, 8" bull barrel. Have 3 barrels, 22cal, 45colt/ 410 shotgun and my favorite 30-30. When I shoot the 30-30, about a 6" flame comes out with the bullet. Not good I know, but impressive !
ReplyDeleteFlames and smoke are part of the fun.
DeleteContenders are fun. I bought a used one at a pawn shop back in the early eighties. As I recall, I paid $185 for it. You can't even buy a used factory barrel now for that price. Came with a 10 in .44 mag barrel and a 10 in .218 Bee (necked down .25-20). Both are the light weight octagons. I've since bought and sold many other calibers, but still have the original two. In the last few years I finally bought a nice thumbhole stock and a .223 carbine barrel and had E.A. Brown make a custom 20 in .357 Maximum for me.............
ReplyDeleteI bought the frame a couple years ago from a guy in Wisconsin who had a .17 Mach 2 barrel on it he said he used to shoot feral cats. As you can see, I've modified it a bit.
DeleteReally pretty wood. I also like the aperture sight.........
DeleteI will need to see a range report n that CW :)
ReplyDeleteWill do.
DeleteI have one with a .44 magnum barrel on it - and a scope. It was my fathers and he hunted deer with it.
ReplyDeleteHa! When I used to hunt deer I always carried my .44 mag Contender with open sights in a shoulder rig along with my deer rifle. Always hoped to get a chance at a close shot with the .44, but never did. The first year that I didn't take it a huge 8 point stepped out at about 20 yards in front of me and stood there broadside. Figures.....
