And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Anchorage, Alaska man wakes up to a lynx with seven kittens playing on his porch
My mother was a soft hearted person who did feed about 25 feral cats, from the back door of her home in Escondido. When she died she left $30,000 in her will with instructions to catch them, have them fixed, and find homes for them.
It was heartbreaking. I enlisted the help of a kind woman who was heading the SPCA and a young vet, but both told me that it probably wouldn't work out too well, and they were right.
The fact is, feral cats do not make good house pets. Maybe if the kittens were caught early enough- but adult cats just don't ever adapt, is my sad experience. Out of maybe 20 cats I tried to save, only 2 seemed to work out. Most of the rest either ran away the first chance they got (and were probably eaten by coyotes) or mauled someone; several had to be put down.
So I'd just watch & enjoy these beauties, and that's all I'd do.
I'd pour a gallon of milk and feed 'em.
ReplyDeleteYes, just too cute.
Wow, beautiful kitties. Would I feed them? No.

Yuge paws......
ReplyDeleteI would feed them, but not try to make 'pets' of them. Mamma looks too skinny from feeding all those babies.
ReplyDeleteHard to do but the kindest thing would be to scare them off. Teach the kittens early on that peoples' homes are no-go zones.
