The fencepost level of stupidity in California continues to mount: California seeks to tax rocket launches, which are already taxed

It's important to set the precedent, so further taxes can be levied later.

Driving out thriving businesses is their motto.

It's hugely unfortunate that the political party in total control here is the Democratic Party.  I remind these locusts that Venezuela was once a thriving country, leading South America in wealth development.  That's going to be the end result of this "tax it till it squeals" mind set in the People's Republic.

If I were Arizona, New Mexico or Texas, I'd be putting together my proposals to all the rocket related companies in the PRC (People's Republic of California) to move, offering all sorts of tasty incentives.  The PRC can only promise heavier and heavier taxes and regulations.

This is yet another argument to split California into two or more states, leaving the coastal population centers to the Democrats and their poisonous ideology.  The rest of the state, now very red, can then be additional competition in the form of newly born mini Texases to the developing Detroits that SF and LA will inevitably evolve into.

  1. The last thing that the Dems want is another two Republican Senators from "New California". The balance in the House would remain the same.

    1. I know, that's why it should be pushed as hard as possible. Keep 'em off balance.

  2. A "mileage tax" to make it equivalent to terrestrial transportation? Somehow, I missed the highway going up into space, from the launch pad, since that's what a fuel tax is supposed to fund.

Although I don't think even Governor moonbeam could tell that one with a straight face.

  3. This proposal needs an investigation into its practicability; I suggest Gov. Moonbeam and Gov. of Vice Newsome be sent up on the next rocket. They can unreel a spool of string behind them to see how much mileage there is to be taxed.

If they don't return, another working party should be sent to investigate why! (But we'll all suspect "The Russians," won't we.)

    1. Senator Feinstein and Congressperson Pelosi could lead the second "working" party.
