And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Seems there is a little trouble on the ground there.
Worked with a guy who was a tail gunner on a B-17 who was shot down on his second mission and spent 18 months in a German POW camp. He said the German Stalag guards treated them not too badly but what they did to the Russian POW's was a crime.
An old family friend, now 93, flew many missions in B-17's. Some 37% of those planes were lost. Tough duty.
ReplyDeleteA man among men.
ReplyDeleteNice secondary explosions in that group.
ReplyDeleteNot a flying job for old men.
