Well Used

  1. I had a well used Fender bass and a 25 watt Peavy amp. I was not very good with it. They disappeared while I was at Basic.

  2. Why is the thumb rest under the strings?

    1. Because it was intended as a Finger Rest — Leo Fender thought the electric bass would be played with the thumb, more like an upright. So you hook your fingers under that while using your thumb to play the strings.

On later models, it got put above the strings and was a thumb rest, until it was finally removed altogether.

  4. I had a Gibson EB-3 back in the 60s in similar condition. I wanted to play like Felix Pappalardi.
