And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Some of those NW ancient large butt cedars are worth 1/4 to half a million in board feet now. My Baker Mining and Minerals scaled out a 3 tree group, one butt was near 96 inch, using a scale, and estimating at the smaller end, pretty close to 1 million dollars in rough sawn then planed lumber. For his gold mine he needed cribs and other lumber, he dropped 3 dead Douglas firs on his own land, figured if he had to buy it outright be around $30,000. Hard to look at those huge trees and see all that lumber, but the guy showed the whole process, really fascinating stuff.
