Tree or Ent?

  1. Some of those NW ancient large butt cedars are worth 1/4 to half a million in board feet now. My Baker Mining and Minerals scaled out a 3 tree group, one butt was near 96 inch, using a scale, and estimating at the smaller end, pretty close to 1 million dollars in rough sawn then planed lumber. For his gold mine he needed cribs and other lumber, he dropped 3 dead Douglas firs on his own land, figured if he had to buy it outright be around $30,000. Hard to look at those huge trees and see all that lumber, but the guy showed the whole process, really fascinating stuff.
