And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I remember reading some short post-apocalyptic story in my teenage years where the protagonist called highways "godroads", thinking only gods could build them. They deduced the names of these gods by reading the street signs associated with them.
Pretty wild. The path/road passes by what appears to be some ethereal “city” but continues on, thru passes to a far distant horizon, skirting a significant peak. Life’s a journey, not a destination.
