Extraordinary Entrance, Viking Style

  1. This image is an illustration titled "The Doors of Heorot" by the Canadian artist John Howe.

The artwork depicts the entrance to Heorot, the great mead-hall of King Hrothgar in the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf.

Howe is a renowned fantasy illustrator, well known for his work related to the worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien and other mythologies.

The ornate carvings and the large, coiled serpent (an Ouroboros) above the door reflect a Norse or Viking art style.

So, unlike so many presentations in the past, this one isn't real.
