    How many will realize the painting Lady with Pearl Earring humor.

    1. That painting- I won't attempt the Dutch- was universally known as "Young girl in a turban" right up until feminists decided that the pearl was a code for a certain something ca. 1990. Pearls were common- the turban was near eastern exotica. The colour blue was the real expensive, ostentatious, luxury.

  3. First thing I thought of was that painting. I looked it up in my blog because I remembered writing about it, but that was 2014 and centered on research that linked the artist to using a camera obscura. The painting is dated as around 1665.

    That's a good looking dog right there.

  4. That's funny, and well done. But I don't think the dog's ear really looks like that, and I don't think it's pierced either.

    1. The forehead, the eyes, the cheek and jaw line, and the ear. None look like dog. Very well blended.
