And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Estwings are great tools for the woods. Extra care needed with hatchets, as their short arc will put your body in harms way if you miss. Much better to swing so direction of cut is not in line with your body.
I still have one of these that my folks bought for me when I was a Boy Scout about 60 years ago. I haven’t used is recently, but it’s still a good tool.
They get dangerous when the leather starts to rot after 50 years or so. You can only make so many repairs with electrical tape. I don’t think they have changed the design a bit in at least 80 years. It’s a tough tool but not a favorite of mine.

ReplyDeleteNever understood the appeal of the Estwing hatchets and hammers. If you miss, the handle will take off a finger or two.
