"Stooked grain refers to cut cereal crops—typically wheat, barley, oats, or rye—bound into sheaves and arranged upright in the field in a structure known as a stook (or shock). This traditional agricultural practice allows the grain to dry and cure naturally in the open air before threshing, protecting the grain heads from moisture, mold, and pests."
