Cylinder gap is measured between the front of the cylinder and the forcing cone. The gap at the rear of the cylinder has to be comparatively huge because the rim thickness of a 44 magnum is .060" which is just shy of 1/16 of an inch (.0625"). Looks like a Ruger cylinder release. Al_in_Ottawa
