And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The famous wooden spiral staircase of Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania
I was in Sinaia last year - tried to see the castle but access was sold out. Romania is a wonderful place to visit! Bucharest and Sibiu for architecture and history. Timisoara is where the revolution began in 1989. Friendly people, delicious food and safe!
There is a similar design at the Lorretto Chapel New Mexico. Reputedly built with very few - no nails at all. The pictured above is more ornate that the Lorretto, and the Lorretta begins at ground floor. Both are still impressive.
Yes, the Loretto staircase is impressive. Supposedly built by a drifter who came into town, built the staircase the left never to be seen again. Or so they say. ;)
