And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Henry or Rem-Lin ? I see the magazine tube cartridge hole so probably Henry. I like brush carbines too but other than feral hog, this one may be too much for anything here. Gosh - that stock appears short - maybe meant for a child ?
Henry lever actions went on sale in 1860 and loaded through the slot in the tube. IIRC the side loading gate in the receiver was patented by Winchester a few years later when they introduced the 1866 Yellowboy. When Henry was resurrected 10-15 years ago there was no side loading gate but now all Henrys have them. Al_in_Ottawa
Have a Marlin like that. Affectionately called L’il Gun. Top choice when I have to go into heavy cover after a bear. Or for elk in the timber. Stopping power personified.
I picked up a rather similar looking Marlin 1895G a few years back chambered in 450Marlin. Great bear and pig gun; 350 grains of powder-thrown brick. Unfortunately, Marlin dropped it, and ammo is nearly impossible to find anymore.

God's Own Caliber
ReplyDelete45-70?
ReplyDeleteMight be one of the new 450, 460, straight wall calibers that popped up because of state laws in the midwest/east. A bit more energy than a 45-70.
DeleteScope on a brush gun? I don't get it.
