  1. Near death, hope and pray moment or maybe a learning experience with wounds to tell another day.

  3. October 1973: a friend of mine went too fast through an exit ramp when leaving the German Autobahn on his motorcycle. He was smart to throw himself and his wife off of the bike in time, but we needed a jack to remove his bike that was stuck UNDER the guardrail. They both came out unscathed. A moment now 50+ years ago that I'll never forget.

  4. You never know. They put Guardrails up next to shear drops all the time.

    1. Around here they don't (Brown County, IN) and if you go off the road that 300' drop will insure your demise.

  5. Looks as if he smacked his head on the rail...so he may not have survived. He was moving fast enough to fracture his skull or neck or cause an intracranial hemorrhage.

    1. It could have been worse, he could have gotten a Leg on either side of that Post.

  6. I did that on a SV650. Then the handlebars went through the guardrail they punctured the gas tank and it soaked me. I am not sure if it was the front or rear that caught the post. I passed out somewhere along there. I got lucky, I bounced over the barrier beat up but nothing broken. Bike burned and totaled. I stopped racing bikes.

  8. This is why 18 - 25 year olds are drafted in to the army. They all think they're invincible. Us old guys sit back and shake our heads in disbelief
