And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

So many European countries revere their heritage and would never even remotely consider tearing down ancient buildings and structures...while most Americans can think of anything but rip it apart and build new (and what they think is better).
You win the award for the Most General Comment of The Year. For decades I have heard this same chatter of them Vs us.
WWII did a lot of the work in yurp. Across Ireland, England, and France I've seen structures torn down to make way for horrible modern architecture to be stood up.
Arts & Crafts, Greene & Greene, Victorian, Revolution era homes are highly prized and kept going true to their original state all across America.
These aren't exceptions to the rule. However, one thing that does serve your point is in Europe they built primarily of stone whereas in America wood has been used.
